Student’s Truck Stolen After Valet Gave Keys to Wrong Man

A college student’s truck was stolen early Friday morning when the alleged thief drove away with it from a bar in Midtown.

Gabe Salazar, 24, was at the bar to celebrate his upcoming graduation from the University of Houston. When he went to retrieve his 2011 GMC Sierra from the valet service, he saw someone driving off in a truck that looked like his. It was.

The valet had given Salazar’s keys to the alleged thief because the suspect was able to describe what the truck looks like. He did not have a ticket. The attendant said he parted with the keys because the suspect “didn’t look like a thief.”
